Naira Abuse: “I’ll honour EFCC invitation in September when Nigeria is peaceful” — Portable

Controversial singer Portable has responded to an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged naira abuse, saying he will only honour the agency’s request in September when, according to him, “Nigeria is peaceful.”

According to Premium Times, the singer confirmed receiving the EFCC invitation, which is linked to activities at his son’s naming ceremony in May. Rather than appearing immediately, Portable said his lawyer would represent him while he waits for what he described as a safer and more stable period in the country.

The “Zazzu Zeh” star argued that widespread insecurity and economic hardship informed his decision. He insisted he was not evading the anti-graft agency and maintained that he had committed no crimes such as fraud, theft, or money laundering.

Portable also accused the EFCC of selectively enforcing laws on naira abuse, claiming other public figures had engaged in similar acts without facing the same level of scrutiny. He called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, alleging that the investigation could damage his image and career.
