The Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared former President Goodluck Jonathan its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, according to Daily Post Nigeria. The decision was taken at a special national convention held at the faction’s secretariat in Area 10, Garki, Abuja. Jonathan was not present at the gathering, but his Certificate of Return was received on his behalf by Bayelsa lawmaker Fred Agbedi. Party delegates aligned with the faction endorsed his nomination amid internal PDP divisions. The Wike-backed camp has continued to reject claims surrounding Jonathan’s emergence, insisting on a different candidate. Jonathan is yet to publicly react to the development as factional tensions deepen ahead of 2027.
