Former Senate President David Mark says he came under intense pressure to endorse a preferred presidential candidate ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primary election but refused to do so.
According to Tribune, Mark revealed that several groups and influential figures pushed him to throw his weight behind specific aspirants before the party’s nomination process. However, he insisted that the ADC leadership would remain neutral and allow party members to decide through a transparent primary.
Mark stressed that no aspirant enjoys special treatment and that the party is committed to fairness, openness, and internal democracy. He argued that endorsing a candidate before the primary would undermine the credibility of the process and damage confidence in the party’s leadership.
