Presidency demands legal action against VDM over fake audio

The Presidency isn’t holding back. Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, is calling for legal action against influencer Martins Vincent Otse—better known as VDM—over an alleged fake audio supposedly featuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to The Nation Newspaper.

In a fiery X post, Onanuga branded it “egregious abuse of the social media platform.” The audio has been circulating online, sparking heated debates about its authenticity. Social media users are divided, with some dismissing it as “cheap propaganda” and questioning whether the voice even belongs to Tinubu.

The controversy highlights growing concerns about misinformation spreading unchecked on digital platforms. Whether VDM actually faces legal consequences remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain: this story isn’t dying anytime soon.
