Dangote Refinery has fixed aviation fuel at ₦1,820 per litre, but oil marketers continue selling to airlines at ₦2,230 and above, deepening Nigeria’s aviation cost crisis.
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority had earlier recommended a price band of ₦1,760 to ₦1,988 per litre, but market checks show airlines are still paying ₦2,230 and above.
Industry analyst Olatide Jeremiah called for greater transparency, saying: “Dangote Refinery should, as a matter of urgency, publish its daily jet fuel gantry prices. This would erode abnormal margins by middlemen.”
United Nigeria Airlines spokesman Chibuike Uloka revealed the scale of the crisis: “The cost of fuel per operation rose from ₦2.9 million in January to ₦7.6 million.”
Regulators have yet to enforce compliance.
