Fuji star Saheed Osupa has stirred controversy after admitting to using juju for success, drawing criticism from religious figures and the public.
Popular Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has sparked widespread controversy after openly admitting that he uses “juju” (traditional spiritual practices) to enhance his success. The singer made the remarks during a live performance at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, where he also advised his backup singers to adopt similar practices to improve their performance.
In a now-viral video, Osupa said he sees nothing wrong with his actions, insisting he does not use such practices for harm but for personal progress. He added that he regularly pays homage to Ifa and dismissed suggestions to deny such beliefs, stating that many people engage in similar practices privately.
The comments have triggered backlash, particularly from Islamic clerics and social media users, who criticised the singer’s stance and urged him to reconsider. While responding to critics, Osupa maintained that he respects religious teachings but condemned what he described as hypocrisy, further fueling public debate.
