Sabalenka defeats Gauff to clinch Miami title

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Coco Gauff to win the Miami Open and complete the Sunshine Double, cementing her dominance in women’s tennis.

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka defeated Coco Gauff 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to win the Miami Open title, completing the prestigious Sunshine Double after her earlier triumph at Indian Wells. The victory marked her second consecutive Miami title.

Sabalenka, 27, became only the fifth woman to win both Indian Wells and Miami in the same year, joining legends like Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters, Victoria Azarenka and Iga Swiatek. She also matched Graf as the only reigning world No. 1 to achieve the feat.

The Belarusian extended her winning streak to 12 matches, ending Gauff’s unbeaten run in hard-court finals. She dominated key moments of the match, capitalising on Gauff’s errors to secure her 24th career title and cap a remarkable run of form this season.
