Islamic movement rejects Israeli envoy’s allegations over sponsorship of terrorism in Nigeria

The Media Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria has condemned and denied allegations of terrorism sponsorship made by the Israeli Ambassador, describing the claims as a malicious attempt to incite domestic division and distract from Israel’s military actions in Gaza.

The Media Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has formally rejected allegations by Israeli Ambassador Michael Freeman linking the group and Iran to terrorism and regional instability, labeling the claims as “blatant falsehood” and a “failed attempt to incite tension and chaos among Muslims in Nigeria.”

In a statement issued Friday by President Ammar Muhammad, the forum dismissed the accusations as “baseless claims” designed to demonize their decades of non-violent activism while shifting focus from Israel’s own international legal challenges, asserting that “it is both inappropriate and unacceptable for the representative of a state widely found guilty of committing genocide… to lecture others about terrorism or security.” Highlighting that no court has ever convicted the IMN of violent activity, the group maintained that their support for Palestine is “rooted in moral conviction” and urged the public to disregard the envoy’s “provocative” rhetoric, even as security forces tightened their presence in Kaduna following rumors of potential unrest.
