NAPTIP has initiated a formal investigation into a Lagos daycare center following a public outcry over resurfaced tweets by singer Simi that many deemed inappropriate regarding the children in her mother’s care.
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has launched a full-scale investigation into alleged child molestation at a Lagos daycare center after controversial social media posts by Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, known as Simi, resurfaced online.
Following a preliminary review of the situation, Director-General Binta Adamu Bello “directed operatives to commence a full-scale investigation” into the facility, which was operated by the singer’s mother at the time the posts were originally made. While Simi has maintained that the decade-old tweets were taken out of context and were not born of perversion, NAPTIP stated it is “appreciating the genuine concern of Nigerians on the matter” and has opened its communication platforms to anyone who may have been abused at the center.
