The Yoruba Union has rejected the Federal Government’s ranching plan in Kwara, urging President Bola Tinubu to suspend the initiative over security concerns.
The Yoruba Union, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, has accused President Bola Tinubu of “handing Yoruba people into the hands of Fulani extremists” over plans to accelerate the National Ranching Programme in Kwara State. The group said ranching should not proceed amid killings and kidnappings in affected communities.
“We unequivocally reject the launching of ranching in Kwara State by President Tinubu’s government, while our people are being killed,” the union said, adding, “Where have you seen a farmer keep his sheep in the care of a lion?” It urged the president to suspend the initiative, warning it could worsen insecurity.
