President Bola Tinubu’s late-night intervention appears to have eased tensions between Rivers rivals Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike after they left Aso Rock together following talks.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike departed the Presidential Villa together on Sunday night after meeting President Bola Tinubu, officials confirmed. Although they arrived separately, Fubara left with Wike, a move described as symbolic. “Both of them left the Villa together in the same vehicle. Doesn’t that mean they both settled?” a source said.
Another official confirmed the intervention, saying, “The two of them settled. He talked to two of them. But I can’t tell you what he said.” The meeting, first reported by The Nation, comes amid prolonged political tensions in Rivers State that have disrupted governance for nearly two years.
