A Lagos entrepreneur says she was financially and emotionally scammed by a Tinder fraudster who promised marriage and investment opportunities while hiding his true identity.
Bukola Yunisa, a Lagos-based entrepreneur and corporate worker, revealed she lost millions of naira to a man posing as a widower and property developer on Tinder. The man, who called himself Alex, convinced her to fund a supposed investment project while promising love and marriage. Yunisa said, “Just a few days after our conversations became serious, he said he wanted to build an investment hotel… but he didn’t have enough capital to start.”
Over time, Yunisa made multiple payments totaling several millions, trusting Alex’s story and promises. She later discovered the man’s real name is Babalola Bankole and that he had been living a double life with a wife and children, using his family as part of the deception. She said, “I am 100% emotionally damaged… the betrayal, the fake love, and the involvement of his wife pretending to be a sister broke my trust completely.”
