Obi Declares: I’m contesting 2027 presidency

Peter Obi has reaffirmed his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election while campaigning for the ADC ahead of the AMAC elections in Abuja.

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi expressed his determination to run in the 2027 presidential election during a campaign event for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate ahead of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). “You see this coming election, support us in AMAC; it will help me. Your support in AMAC is critical to our journey. I am involved and contesting the coming election as number one. When I come back, you will see. I assure you,” he said.

Since joining the ADC, Obi’s supporters, including members of the Obidient movement, have urged the party to make him the top candidate on its presidential ticket. However, the ADC spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, cautioned party members against inflammatory rhetoric, stressing the importance of unity within the party.

There are speculations that some ADC leaders are considering an Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket, a move that could consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections. Obi’s continued engagement with party campaigns is viewed as a strategic effort to strengthen his political positioning ahead of the national contest.
