A staff member of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), identified as Aliye Saka, popularly known as Baba Niye, has died while using a toilet within the hospital premises. Tribune Online reports that the deceased, an ambulance driver attached to the hospital’s ambulance bay, was found lifeless on Monday several hours after entering the facility.
A food vendor at the hospital, who identified herself as Mama Bola, described the incident as shocking, noting that the deceased had shown no signs of illness before his death. She explained that staff became aware of the situation only after repeated knocking on the toilet door went unanswered, prompting someone to force it open and discover Baba Niye’s body. “I saw him earlier that morning, and he did not look sick at all, so it was a big surprise to hear that he died in the toilet,” she said.
