Police deny Kaduna church abduction amid US lawmaker’s claim

Contrary to claims by United States lawmaker Rep Riley Moore that more than 100 Christian worshippers were abducted in Kaduna State, police authorities have said no one was abducted, stressing that security reports from the area do not support allegations of a mass kidnapping, even as Moore took to his X handle to describe the incident as “Horrific news,” alleging that “Armed radical Muslim Fulani attacked three churches yesterday and kidnapped more than 100 Christian worshippers,” and adding, “Our brothers and sisters in Christ are facing an existential threat at the hands of the Fulani militants. More must be done to protect them, and I urge the Nigerian government to ensure the swift and safe return of all those who were captured,” a position Nigerian police have countered by insisting that while security incidents were reported, no abduction of worshippers occurred and investigations so far have not confirmed any churchgoers being taken captive.
