The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has called on the National Assembly to impeach President Bola Tinubu if he is found culpable in the alleged alteration of tax laws passed by the legislature.
In a statement on Monday, the party described the alleged post-passage changes as “executive dishonesty” and a grave violation of constitutional order and legislative sovereignty.
The PRP said revelations by a member of the House of Representatives showed that bills were allegedly altered after approval by the National Assembly without legislative consent.
The party condemned what it described as a pattern of executive impunity, warning that such actions undermine the rule of law, separation of powers, and public trust in democratic institutions.
It demanded an immediate suspension of the disputed tax laws pending a transparent investigation into discrepancies between the laws passed by lawmakers and those gazetted.
The PRP said anyone found responsible must be punished, insisting that “no individual, including the President, should be above the law,” and warned it would seek judicial intervention if the matter is not resolved.
