Arsenal moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 2-1 victory over bottom-placed Wolves on Saturday night. The hosts struggled to break down a disciplined Wolves defence before taking the lead in the 70th minute through a fortuitous Sam Johnstone own goal at the Emirates Stadium.
Wolves looked set to snatch a dramatic point when Tolu Arokodare struck in the 90th minute after sustained pressure. However, Arsenal responded in injury time as Yerson Mosquera turned the ball into his own net, handing Mikel Arteta’s side all three points in a tense finale.
The Gunners had endured a frustrating first half, with Gabriel Martinelli missing two clear chances from set pieces. Wolves also threatened on the break, with Hwang Hee-chan forcing a save from David Raya, while late first-half efforts from Jorgen Strand Larsen and Joao Gomes were blocked.
