The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has come under scrutiny after an investigation by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) revealed that it paid N680.1 million to KC Construction Limited for food items in 2024, despite the firm being a construction company.
FIJ found that the payments, made through 10 transactions, covered items such as biscuits, sugar, beverages, and other consumables. Several transactions grouped items vaguely as “other items,” raising concerns about inflated prices and lack of transparency in the procurement process.
Market price comparisons showed wide gaps between actual costs and amounts paid. In multiple cases, listed items were worth only a fraction of the sums disbursed, leaving millions of naira unaccounted for. Searches for KC Construction Limited’s corporate records reportedly returned no results.
