The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has confirmed former National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Managing Director, Bola Oyebamiji, as its consensus candidate for the forthcoming governorship election. His emergence followed a primary held on Saturday at the Ebunoluwa Group of Schools, Osogbo, after a motion was moved by two fellow governorship aspirants.
The motion for consensus was put forward by aspirants Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and Senator Babajide Omoworare before being subjected to a voice vote by party members present. Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Chairman of the primary committee, declared the result, stating: “By the power conferred on me, I present to you Bola Oyebamiji, as the governorship candidate of our party.”
Oyebamiji’s selection comes amid reports that all seven aspirants contesting the ticket agreed to back a consensus flagbearer after a crucial meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja. Former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who was previously disqualified, also accepted the party’s consensus decision after guidance from the President.
