American rapper Nicki Minaj has called for the protection of Christians in Nigeria and an end to ongoing violence. In a post on X, she wrote, “FREE THE CHRISTIANS IN NIGERIA!!!!!!!!!! STOP THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” She used a faith-based message to highlight the urgency of the situation.
Minaj’s intervention follows her November remarks at a UN-related event on global religious freedom. U.S. official Michael Waltz described the killings as “genocide wearing the mask of chaos,” citing church burnings, beheadings, and abductions. He said, “Eighty per cent of the violence against Christians worldwide is occurring in Nigeria.”
Minaj said Christians are being “targeted, driven from their homes, and killed” for their faith. She thanked former President Donald Trump for raising awareness, while Nigeria’s government maintains the violence is driven by criminality, not religion. International advocacy groups, however, continue to raise concerns over security and religious freedom.
