The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has dismissed Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall’s claim that he belongs to the lineage entitled to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland. In a letter dated December 11, 2025, the family declared his submitted lineage form “null, void, and of no consequence,” saying investigations revealed no proof linking him to the Jadiara Royal House or the wider Fusengbuwa lineage. It also faulted the certification, describing the endorser as lacking “locus standi.”
The letter, signed by chairman Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, questioned how the form was certified before Ayinde signed it, describing the document as “presigned.” The rejection adds to growing opposition from multiple family heads who insist neither Ayinde nor his father belonged to their lineages. His claim has stirred controversy amid heightened interest in selecting a successor to the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona, who died in July after a 65-year reign.
