Nigerian Woman Forced to Watch Family Killed: US Rep.

US Representative Riley Moore shared a harrowing account from a Nigerian woman forced to watch the murder of her husband and five children in Benue, drawing attention to the over 600,000 Christians displaced by violence in the state.

United States Representative Riley Moore (R-WV) has highlighted the humanitarian crisis in Benue State, revealing that a Nigerian woman told him she was “forced to watch as they killed her husband and five children” during violent attacks. Moore, who recently concluded a visit to Nigeria, shared several “harrowing stories” from internally displaced persons (IDP) camps on X, detailing survivors’ extreme trauma and life-altering injuries. He noted that many recounted attacks on their communities before finding refuge.

Moore raised concerns over the “more than 600,000 Christians in IDP camps in Benue State alone,” adding, “These Christians should be able to live in their ancestral homeland without fear of genocidal Fulani.” The lawmaker emphasized that the stories of loss, including one woman whose “baby was ripped from her womb,” and men whose families were “hacked to death,” would remain with him permanently.
