The Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu Ode has declared that Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall is not a member of the family and is therefore ineligible to contest for the Awujale throne. At a briefing in Ile Nla, spokesperson Abiodun Ogidan stated that the musician’s details in the submitted lineage form proved he was “definitely not one of us” and noted that “Awujale nomination forms were not given to him” before the process closed.
A second group, the Oduneye family of Ijebu Ode, also rejected Ayinde’s claim of belonging to the Jadiara royal house. Representing the family, Alhaja Adesumbo Oduneye said they were surprised that the submitted lineage form was signed by Adetayo Oduneye, whom she described as “never the head of the Oduneye family.” She maintained, “Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshall is not one of us and not from Jadiara,” dismissing assertions linking him to the ruling structure.
