President Bola Tinubu has met with All Progressives Congress leaders and governorship aspirants from Osun State, urging them to unite behind a consensus candidate ahead of the party’s December 13 primary. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the meeting was held on Monday night at the State House, Abuja, with aspirants including Benedict Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke, Babatunde Oralusi, Mulikat Jimoh and Munirudeen Oyebamiji in attendance.
Tinubu praised the aspirants’ contributions but warned against divisions that previously cost the party the governorship seat. “You must strengthen the bonds of unity, party supremacy and collective responsibility,” he said, urging them to “close ranks” and support whoever emerges from the process. At the end of the meeting, the aspirants and party leaders issued a joint declaration pledging to abide by the consensus arrangement and work toward victory in the 2025 Osun governorship election.
