Osun: Adeleke clinches Accord Party’s governorship ticket for 2026

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday emerged as the Accord Party’s candidate for the August 8, 2026, governorship election after securing 145 of 150 valid votes at the party primary in Osogbo.

Five ballots were voided, according to electoral committee secretary Abdulazeez Salaudeen, who declared Adeleke winner of the exercise witnessed by INEC officials.

The primary was conducted under heavy security, with Adeleke, his deputy Kola Adewusi, and party leaders present. Several PDP officeholders were absent. National chairman Maxwell Mgbudem led the party delegation.

Adeleke said, “I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago… as a platform to seek re-election in 2026,” citing the party’s welfarist philosophy as aligning with his governance agenda.
