Sixteen members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, including Speaker Martin Amaewhule, officially switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Friday. Their decision was attributed to a “clear division” within the PDP.
Amaewhule stated he officially notified his ward chairman of his departure from the PDP, expressing intent to join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts. The move follows a recent political crisis involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara and ex-governor Nyesom Wike’s loyalists.
