Tinubu, N’Assembly, Wike donate ₦320m to Nigerian Legion

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday donated ₦200 million to the Nigerian Legion as he launched the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal at the Presidential Villa, while the National Assembly pledged ₦100 million and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike added ₦20 million. At the event, which was attended by top government officials and service chiefs, Tinubu said, “As a grateful nation, we must honour the fallen, support the wounded, and care for all who answered the call to serve,” urging Nigerians to support the appeal fund and reject divisive rhetoric.

He highlighted recent gains in security, praised the Armed Forces for restoring stability in conflict-prone areas, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving military welfare through better allowances, upgraded facilities, modernised pension systems and enhanced healthcare. Defence leaders and officials also applauded the government’s support and emphasised the emblem’s symbolism of national solidarity.
