“She was found tightly bound” — shock as retired judge killed in Asaba

A retired judge, Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, was found murdered in her Asaba home with her legs, hands and face tightly bound, prompting her family to raise alarm and police to detain several security guards while one remains at large.

The family of retired judge Justice Ifeoma Okogwu has raised alarm after she was found murdered in her Asaba residence, with her body discovered early Monday “with her legs, hands and face tightly bound” and her house ransacked. Her brother, Ogbueshi Godfrey Okogwu, said the family learned of the killing on Monday and expressed concern over the disappearance of the night security guard, noting that the morning guard claimed he arrived to meet the gate “wide open” and simply “sat there,” a situation he said he did not understand.

He added that the family has already provided police with the details of the private security firm responsible for deploying the guards. Police spokesperson Bright Edafe confirmed the incident, stating that some guards are in custody while one remains at large, as investigations continue.
