FUTA Alumni Association Worldwide gets new executives as Billy Ibuje becomes president

The newly elected executive officers of the Federal University of Technology Akure Alumni Worldwide Association have been sworn in. The event took place on the 25th of November 2025 at the Alumni Building of the University.

While delivering his acceptance speech the president Mr. Billy Ibuje said “Today, as I stand before you, I stand on the shoulders of giants, the visionary founders, the dedicated past presidents, and the countless alumni who have, with their sweat, intellect, and unwavering commitment, built this association into the formidable force it is today.

I stand surrounded by the spirit of excellence, innovation, and resilience that defines the Federal University of Technology, Akure. And I stand with you, the over 50,000-strong army of change-makers, scattered across continents, yet bound by an unbreakable chain of shared experiences, shared values, and a shared love for our alma mater”

He further stated that his administration will be built around eight pivotal pillars which include forging an unbreakable chain of alumni unity; ensuring the timely and successful completion of all ongoing projects; aggressive establishment of strategic partnerships; establishment of a robust and sustainable FUTA Alumni Welfare Fund; institutionalization of a culture of targeted impact through the “One Set, One Project” initiative; seamless and impactful collaboration with university management; inauguration of diaspora branches; and establishment of new branches and chapters within Nigeria.

The President said ” The task before us is the ultimate systems engineering project. It requires careful planning, robust architecture, seamless integration of components, and, most importantly, a dedicated team.

I am confident that together, we will debug the challenges of the past, code a new software of collaboration, and build an edifice of progress that will inspire generations of FUTARIANS yet unborn. Let us re-engage with our alma mater with vigour and vision and rebuild our association into a more united, impactful, and glorious community”

Earlier in her remarks the Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji urged the incoming executives to commit to building a society, and indeed an alumni body, where everyone is happy and fulfilled.
She said “Before this tenure concludes, I urge you to call everyone together. Engage with members, reconnect with old colleagues, and most importantly, train the younger ones coming after us.

Our true strength lies in our numbers, and it is time we cultivate a strong culture of giving—giving our time, our ideas, and our resources for the growth of the association and the progress of our community.”

Professor Oladiji commended the outgoing president for his commitment and diligence throughout his tenure commending his doggedness stating that his efforts have not gone unnoticed.
In his speech the outgoing president Engr. Adeyemi Bello reeled out the achievements of his tenure stating that the goal was to build an enviable and impactful alumni body that will leave lasting legacies on the members and University community.
He acknowledged the support of the university management and the immense contributions of other executives and the entire alumni body in making his tenure successful.

Engr Adeyemi expressed confidence that the new executive officers will keep the flag of excellence flying and invest into the immense intellectual and infrastructural resources of the alma mater.
The legal officer of the university, Barr. Osiomwanuri Efosa conducted the swearing in.
