Bandits abduct teenage boy, six girls in FCT community

A 16-year-old boy and six girls aged 17–23 were kidnapped by armed bandits during a night raid on Gidan-Bijimi in Bwari Area Council, causing panic as vigilantes were overwhelmed and contact with the abductors remains unknown.

A 16-year-old boy and six girls aged between 17 and 23 were abducted when armed bandits stormed Gidan-Bijimi in Kawu ward, Bwari Area Council of the FCT, around 9:47 p.m., firing sporadically as they invaded two houses.

According to a resident, Suleiman Shuaibu, who spoke to Daily Trust, vigilantes attempted to confront the attackers but were overpowered by the bandits’ superior firepower.

He said, “It was around 9:53 pm when a call came from Gidan-Bijimi community that some bandits invaded the village and abducted six young girls, unfortunately my cousin sister happened to be among the victims.” The incident triggered chaos and forced some residents to flee, while contact with the abductors has yet to be established.
