All students abducted during a bandit attack on Kiri High School in Kogi State were rescued by the Kiri Vigilante Group, though one vigilante and a resident were killed.
Kiri High School in Aiyetoro Kiri, Kabba Bunu LGA, Kogi State, was attacked by armed bandits in the early hours of Wednesday, November 26, 2025. According to information confirmed to Egbe Mekun Parrot, members of the Kiri Vigilante Group swiftly responded and successfully rescued all abducted students. Community sources confirmed no students remain in captivity, though the operation resulted in the deaths of one vigilante and a resident.
The attempted abduction comes amid a wave of mass kidnappings across Nigeria’s north-central region, where more than 400 people, mostly schoolchildren, have been seized since mid-November. The United Nations has condemned the surge, urging Nigeria to take “all lawful measures” to halt the attacks and ensure accountability.
