Italian authorities have detained a 57-year-old man accused of dressing up as his deceased mother to renew her identity card and continue collecting her state pension.
Police in Mantua say the suspect, a former nurse, failed to report the death of his mother, Graziella Dall’Oglio, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 82 in Borgo Virgilio, northern Italy. When her ID card expired, he allegedly wore a wig, makeup, and her clothing to impersonate her during the required in-person renewal process.
