The forward missed their Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal and could be out of Sunday’s game.
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been hospitalised with gastroenteritis after missing their Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal. The 26-year-old France captain missed training on Tuesday with a fever and did not feature in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw.
“Mbappe has an acute case of gastroenteritis,” a club statement said on Thursday, noting he had been admitted for “a series of tests.” Gastroenteritis is an infection that causes vomiting and diarrhoea.
Mbappe, who scored 43 goals in 56 matches in his debut season for Madrid, is now a doubt for Sunday’s match against Pachuca.
This is Madrid’s first competition under new manager Xabi Alonso.
