Plymouth Argyle have confirmed that head coach Miron Muslic has been allowed to enter talks with German side Schalke.
Muslic, who joined in January, expressed a desire to be closer to his family and “not return to England.” The club stated, “We are frustrated by this decision,” after receiving repeated verbal assurances from Muslic about his commitment.
Muslic oversaw 21 games, achieving seven wins, five draws, and nine defeats. His biggest highlight was a 1-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool. Argyle, recently relegated from the Championship, had appointed Muslic following Wayne Rooney’s dismissal. Despite signing a three-and-a-half-year deal, he is set to leave after just four months.
Schalke, who finished 14th in the 2. Bundesliga, have experienced instability, using three managers in 2024/25. Muslic’s departure follows Argyle’s new signings, including Jamie Paterson and Caleb Watts. “This opportunity provides him the chance to be closer to [his family],” the club added.
