Damilola Adeniyi Adegeye, daughter of juju music legend King Sunny Ade, has accused her step-brother, Dayo, of allegedly holding their father hostage.
In a series of Instagram Story posts, Damilola claimed the 78-year-old singer had been “kidnapped” by Dayo, who also serves as his manager, with help from his mother, brothers Demola and Kenny, and a driver identified as Ade.
“King Sunny Ade has been kidnapped. The manager (Dayo) is the culprit along with his mother, brothers…and his driver,” she wrote.
She alleged Sunny Ade’s whereabouts were unknown to the family and accused Dayo of “misleading” them. “No one knows his whereabouts in the family…yet these guys are not telling us where he is,” she said.
Damilola, based in the UK, further claimed her father is “working under duress” and that the family isn’t benefiting financially. She urged the Nigerian police to intervene and asked the public to stop booking the singer for events.
Dayo has not publicly responded as of press time.
