Access Code:Dickson confirms Peter Obi’s name already on INEC portal despite legal storm

NDC National Leader Senator Seriake Dickson has confirmed that his name and Presidential Candidate Peter Obi’s name have already been uploaded to INEC’s portal, declaring the party remains legally registered and active despite a Lokoja Federal High Court ruling that set aside the judgment recognising NDC

Court drama or not, Seriake Dickson says NDC is moving forward — and the proof is already on INEC’s portal.

The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress gave Nigerians a crucial update Tuesday following last Friday’s Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja, which set aside the December 2025 judgment that had originally enabled INEC to register NDC as a political party on February 5, 2026.

Despite the legal uncertainty, Dickson insisted the party isn’t standing still.

“Today, the NDC has filed an appeal against the ruling as well as a stay of execution/injunction, which has been served with a covering letter to the INEC chairman and his team to do what is right according to law and what is legally sensible,” Dickson stated, according to Daily Trust.

He went further, declaring the party’s legal foundation remains intact.

“The Nigeria Democratic Congress has come to stay and remains a duly registered party in Nigeria which has participated in all the political processes so far… candidates have already emerged from the party for all offices across the country in primaries observed, monitored and recorded by INEC,” he said.

And then came the headline detail — names are already going up.

“My name and that of the Presidential Candidate have been uploaded to the INEC portal, while that of the Vice Presidential Candidate will be done tomorrow upon completion of the deposition,” Dickson revealed.

He laid out the timeline ahead — National Assembly candidates must be uploaded by July 11, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates have until July 17.

“There is enough time for all candidates’ names to be submitted to INEC and there is no reason for anyone to panic,” he assured.

Dickson also acknowledged internal primary tensions, thanking aspirants who didn’t emerge victorious and promising ongoing reconciliation efforts to keep the party united.

He closed by praising INEC’s professionalism and calling on the judiciary to determine the appeal fairly.

The court battle isn’t over. But NDC isn’t waiting for it to be.
