A PDP chieftain says Nyesom Wike is deliberately avoiding comments on Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s potential second-term bid to prevent early political disputes within the party.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Umar Sani, has addressed the political tension in Rivers State and the debate over the future of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking on Symfoni TV, Sani said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has made it clear he does not want to be asked whether the governor will seek a second term.
Sani explained that Wike’s stance is aimed at preventing premature political debates that could divide party supporters. He said: “Wike recently told me that nobody should ask him whether Fubara is going to do a second term or not. This is to avoid premature debates that can scatter the party. For now, the people of Rivers State are watching closely, hoping that this political ‘robasese’ does not stop the development of the state. Wike is keeping his cards close to his chest.”
