President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerian medical professionals abroad to return home, citing his own experience of relocating from the US decades ago.
“Nowhere Like Home” — Tinubu Urges Diaspora Health Workers to Return
Speaking on Friday while receiving the Nigerian Diaspora Medical Associations at the State House, led by NiDCOM’s Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Tinubu recalled his time working in Chicago before returning to Nigeria, according to Punch. He urged delegates to encourage colleagues abroad to come home and support his administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Tinubu described diaspora doctors’ contributions as invaluable, reaffirmed his commitment to fighting poverty, and reflected on Nigeria’s evolving democracy. The visit coincided with National Diaspora Day Celebration 2026, themed around strengthening local health systems with diaspora expertise.
