TikTok deletes 4.8 million videos in Nigeria over policy breaches

TikTok removed over 4.8 million videos uploaded by Nigerian users in the first quarter of 2026 for breaching its Community Guidelines.

The removed videos made up 0.6 per cent of all Nigerian uploads during the period, the News Agency of Nigeria reported via Peoples Gazette, citing TikTok’s latest enforcement report. The platform said 99.8 per cent of the offending videos were caught before users reported them, while 92.8 per cent were removed within 24 hours.

Globally, TikTok took down over 184 million videos and suspended more than 58 million LIVE sessions. In Nigeria, the company suspended 120,000 LIVE sessions and removed over 118,000 posts under its AI-generated content policy. TikTok said it would launch an in-app AI Literacy Hub for Nigerian users and continue working with the Office of the National Security Adviser and civil society groups on online safety.
