Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has given reasons Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde stopped supporting President Bola Tinubu. Olayinka spoke after Makinde announced he would not back Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Makinde made the declaration during a media chat with journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, where he accused Wike of plotting to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 election. He also suggested he could contest against Tinubu.
Reacting in a Facebook post, Olayinka alleged that Makinde’s fallout with the president stemmed from the rejection of his ministerial nominee. He claimed the disagreement was not based on ideology or party principles.
“If Governor Seyi Makinde’s nominee for Oyo State ministerial position was accepted by President Tinubu, he will still be clapping for the President now,” Olayinka wrote, insisting the decision influenced the governor’s stance.
