Peter Obi tells Tinubu to resign, cites UK PM’s example

Peter Obi has called on President Tinubu to resign, citing worsening insecurity and economic hardship and pointing to Keir Starmer’s resignation as a model of accountability.

Peter Obi has a message for Tinubu: take a page from Starmer’s book. The NDC presidential candidate says the UK PM’s resignation is exactly the kind of accountability Nigeria’s leadership needs, Daily Post reports.

Obi didn’t hold back on the irony either — reminding everyone that Tinubu once demanded Goodluck Jonathan resign over insecurity, back in 2015. Fast forward to now, and Obi says Tinubu’s own promises on electricity, anti-corruption and citizens’ welfare remain largely unfulfilled.

His case: insecurity, kidnappings, blackouts and economic hardship are all still biting hard. For Obi, holding leaders accountable for non-performance isn’t punishment — it’s how democracy actually gets stronger.
