Osun guber poll recorded peaceful voting: CDD

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) reported that the Osun governorship election was largely peaceful, despite some operational hitches. According to their preliminary statement, INEC’s deployment was mostly successful, with a high percentage of polling units opening on time. However, challenges with BVAS, delays in opening, and isolated incidents of violence and vote buying were noted across several local government areas.

The CDD urged INEC to improve its backup systems and technical support for BVAS. They also called for investigations into allegations of vote buying and stressed the importance of security agencies remaining neutral and protecting voters. The center will provide a full assessment after the election process concludes.
