True Word in Season, the evangelical arm of Greater Tomorrow Group in the Celestial Church of Christ, is set to splash a total sum of $4,500 on the winners of the second edition of the annual SBJ Oshoffa Memorial Juvenile Competition.
According to the convener of the competition and leader of Greater Tomorrow Group, Brother Demola Bolaji, the competition provides an avenue for juveniles to be well-grounded in the Scriptures, music culture of the church and its doctrines.
Beyond the music and Bible quiz, he said, the competition is about giving children purpose, instilling values, and aligning them with divine direction.
In a video posted on True Word in Season Facebook page, Bolaji expressed satisfaction about the gains accruable from the competition for the juveniles.
He said:“ The Rev. SBJ Oshoffa annual memorial international competition is on. We have just finished camping for the musicals. They were in the camp from Sunday to Wednesday and it was interesting. We are moving. God is moving with us. We were in the camp. They were trained. It was a thing that would leave an indelible mark in their hearts. They will never forget this was possible in this time. We are on the move…I’m sure people are really rehearsing and practising. Everyone wants to win. Yes, it’s possible. We are ready on our side for everyone that will become a champion. $2,000 is for the winner in the Bible quiz competition, and for the musical, it’s just $2,500.”
While nine parishes will slug it out at the grand finale of the juvenile choir competition at MUSON Centre on May 27, the Bible quiz is scheduled to hold on May 23, chairman of the organising committee, Brother Tosin Ajayi, explained.
Last year, Celestial Church of Christ, El Morijah Parish, clinched the $2,000 grand prize at the maiden edition of the Oshoffa Juvenile Choir Competition, Celestial Church of Christ, Makoko National National Headquarters, won $1,500 prize money after emerging Bible quiz champions.
