Mali signals openness to US military action, demands sovereignty respect

Mali’s government has acknowledged reports that the Trump administration is considering military action against Islamist militants in the country, insisting any partner must respect its sovereignty.

Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop made the comments on Thursday in Bamako, alongside Gen. Oumar Diarra, according to a report by The Washington Post. Diop did not rule out the possibility of US military intervention but stressed that any nation working with Mali must respect its sovereignty.
