Atiku challenges Obasanjo over ₦5m bribery claim raised after Na’Abba’s death

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has questioned why ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo waited until after Ghali Na’Abba’s death to allege he bribed the late Speaker with ₦5 million.

Atiku Fires Back: Why Wait Till Na’Abba’s Death to Raise Bribery Claim?

In a statement issued Friday through his aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku dismissed the allegation as politically motivated, according to PM News. He argued the timing denied Nigerians the chance to hear Na’Abba’s side and accused Obasanjo of trying to boost an unnamed kinsman’s 2027 electoral chances.

Atiku challenged Obasanjo to openly declare his political position instead of reviving unverifiable claims. He maintained the allegation had no judicial backing, noting Obasanjo’s government could have prosecuted the matter at the time if evidence existed.
