The Elegant Nurses Forum has accused the Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences of commercialising education after final-year students were directed to pay ₦200,000 for qualifying exams.
Nurses Group Slams Ogun College Over ₦200,000 Exam Fee
The group, led by National Coordinator Nurse Thomas Abiodun Olamide, said the fee far exceeds the actual Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria charge, estimated at ₦36,000 for three exam papers, according to Sahara Reporters. Students also face an additional ₦120,000 licensing fee not yet officially announced.
The ENF said one distressed parent broke down in tears and expressed suicidal thoughts over the financial burden. The group called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to review the fees, demanding a transparent breakdown of charges and increased government funding for nursing education. The college and state government are yet to respond.
