Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has walked back his threat to abandon the Obidient Movement after NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi personally called him, with Fayose now declaring himself “one million percent Obidient” just hours after threatening to withdraw his support.
It took one phone call — and the defection drama is over before it began.
Nigerian businessman and public affairs commentator Isaac Fayose, who had earlier threatened to dump the Obidient Movement and withdraw support from NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi, did a complete about-turn on Friday night after Obi called him directly.
In a video posted on his Facebook fan page, Fayose confirmed the conversation and his renewed loyalty.
“Four hours ago, my leader, Peter Obi called me. His Excellency said ‘sorry about your wife. I’m in Lagos tonight or tomorrow morning, I will be in your house,'” Fayose revealed.
The drama began after a viral video showed Fayose praying alongside Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, triggering fierce backlash from the Obidient community. Fayose had responded to the criticism by claiming Obi never appreciated his efforts and threatening — as Daily Post reported — that he could withdraw his support “any time.”
Obi’s personal outreach appears to have resolved the tension swiftly. Fayose declared himself “one million percent Obidient” and added: “I love Tinubu’s family but Nigeria belongs to Nigerians and they are saying enough is enough. It’s time for change.”
