A UK-based man, Badmus, has filed for divorce from his wife Shadia at the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, alleging she deceived him about being a single parent, siphoned money from him and used diabolic means to trap him.
A man identified as Badmus has filed a divorce suit against his wife, Shadia, whom he met on Facebook and described as deceitful, diabolic, troublesome and a threat to his life, at the Grade A Customary Court sitting in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Tribune reports that Badmus, who said he resides in the United Kingdom, told the court that Shadia lied to him about being a single parent with two children, only for him to later discover she had a husband and their marriage still subsisted.
He said he held a traditional wedding with Shadia, paying N100,000 as bride price, and took full responsibility for her two children’s upkeep, enrolling them in an expensive private school.
The plaintiff further alleged that he established four different businesses for Shadia, all of which she ruined through an extravagant lifestyle, and also funded the completion of her house.
Badmus claimed he spent about N6 million trying to help her conceive, and a medical report later revealed a pair of scissors had been left inside her during a caesarean operation for her second child.
He said the relationship soured when he declined her request to relocate with him to the UK, where he lives with his first wife, and things escalated when she took possession of his property documents, insisting he share the property with her.
According to Badmus, the truth about Shadia’s marital status emerged after he transferred money to her account, prompting a call from a man claiming to be her husband.
He alleged Shadia has continued threatening him since then, taking a toll on his health, as he is now hypertensive and on medication.
He prayed the court to dissolve the union and grant an order restraining Shadia from threatening him or infringing on his privacy.
Shadia was absent from court despite being served summons, and the court president, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, adjourned the case for judgment.
