Court Strikes Out Amaechi’s Suit Against Atiku
The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday struck out a suit filed by former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi challenging Atiku Abubakar’s emergence as the ADC’s presidential candidate. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik struck out the case after Amaechi’s lawyer, Jibrin Okutepa, SAN, moved a withdrawal motion, informing the court that the parties had settled their differences, according to Vanguard.
Amaechi had sought to void the party’s May 25 primary, alleging breaches of the Electoral Act and ADC’s guidelines, and had asked for a fresh primary within 14 days. He also named INEC as a defendant in the suit.
