The African Democratic Congress has rejected the Court of Appeal’s ruling on its congresses and announced plans to appeal to the Supreme Court, insisting the judgment won’t affect its 2027 primaries or candidates.
ADC Rejects Court Ruling, Heads to Supreme Court
The African Democratic Congress has rejected Monday’s Court of Appeal ruling on its congresses and says it’s heading to the Supreme Court, according to Punch Newspapers.
In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC insisted the judgment has “no effect whatsoever” on its direct primaries or candidates for 2027, calling the ruling “legally unsustainable.” The party said it backed the dissenting opinion from one of the appellate justices.
The ADC urged members to “remain calm, confident and focused,” reaffirming its commitment to providing Nigerians with what it called a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
